Yixuan Wang
Innovation Consultant
Yixuan is an Innovation Consultant at NICA. She joined NICA in October 2024.
Yixuan holds a PhD in Design from The University of Edinburgh. Her work centres on engaging diverse stakeholders to create innovative, design-driven interventions that support health and wellbeing, specialising in practice-led, qualitative research aimed at addressing loneliness in later life through remote co-design methods. Yixuan’s research interests lie at the intersection of design, healthcare, and psychology, with a particular focus on how design influences subconscious emotions and behaviours. Yixuan holds three Utility Model Patents and has contributed to the UNA Europa project “EdinGo – A Virtual Fringe Platform,” collaborating with partners, including The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, Festivals Edinburgh, and PosiFest. Additionally, she has also contributed her expertise to the Wellbeing of Older Workers group at the University of Glasgow, serving as a doctoral artist-in-residence and research assistant at the Edinburgh Centre for Research on the Experience of Dementia. Her work has been presented at multiple journals, conferences, and exhibitions.
