This is a really exciting milestone in a programme of work which examines intergenerational relationships for more inclusive workplaces and societies.

There are now five generations in the workforce, making it truly multigenerational. Across the G20 group of richest countries, people over the age of 50 accounted for nearly 1 in 3 workers (29% of the workforce) in 2018, and this is predicted to rise to 40% by 2035.

To sustain jobs people will need to acquire new skills, possibly retrain and change careers multiple times over their lifetime. Currently, however, workplace support and training is often designed around life stages that do not meet the changing needs and priorities across the life course, and workplaces provide few opportunities to share learning and experience across generations for individual and organisational benefits.

Our report provides insights on how companies can move from being multigenerational to age-inclusive and intergenerational by connecting generations around purpose, experience and learning.

Through a small-scale survey and workshop with VOICE® and CIRKEL members we have collated insights on the real-world experience of generational difference. We’ve looked at the opportunities and constraints that multigenerational working presents, together with ideas for practical solutions.

The next step is to connect with interested partners and audiences at the conference and finalise the report. Stay tuned!
