Independant living is a major concern for most of us as we get older. Giving people the opportunity to live as freely and as comfortably for as long as they can, is key.

Havelock Place in Backworth – just off the A19 near Killingworth – is an extra care housing facility with extra support for those living with dementia or cognitive impairments.

It’s been designed with consultation with those living with impairments, their families and their carers. As you can see, it certainly promotes independent living in stylish well thought out apartments.

Our colleague Claire Robinson went there last week for a guided tour and was extremely impressed!

Well-designed rooms, spaces and living areas and a memory wall, part of an Ageing Well Village designed to spark memories, start conversations and bring comfort.

The phrase ‘a walk down memory lane’ has never seemed so apt.
