The Double Ninth Celebrations at the Catalyst.

It was great to see so many members of the Chinese community attend our Chonyang tea party yesterday.

The festival, also known as the DoubleNinthFestival, is observed on the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese calendar and is a traditional Chinese holiday.

On this day, it’s customary to drink chrysanthemum tea and eat rice cakes so we had both for visitors to enjoy. People chatted and mingled, enjoyed a few games and took home a goody bag with a few memories of the day.

Star of the show was GITA and baby GITA – our cargo-carrying robots. These are mobile robots which follow you as you go about your day and there’s space inside for carrying groceries or possessions. Every GITA has computer sensor vision, allowing it to follow users both indoors and outdoors with ease. It’s something that NICA is keen to explore and adapt for innovation in the field of ageing intelligence and it proved to be a big hit at this event.
