“Ageing is a process that touches all of us.  NICA will help us and our partners to understand better what needs to change in order that everyone can live longer, healthier, happier lives.”

Mike is Dean of Innovation and Business at Newcastle University.  Trained as a medical biophysicist, he moved into industry in 1984, initially in R&D before moving into commercial roles and general management.  Half of his 26-year career in industry has been with blue chip multinationals (Ciba-Geigy, SmithKline Beecham, Nycomed Amersham) while the other half has been as CEO of early-stage venture-backed high-tech and biotech companies.  He has raised more than £70m of investment, listed two companies on the LSE and has significant M&A experience.  In 2010 he started working with universities to help accelerate their impact agendas, taking up the position of Dean with Newcastle University in 2018.

Our People

We deal with ageing and longevity. So we deal, first and foremost, with people - their relationship with society, the economy, politics and innovation. Our background is as diverse and holistic as the subject we deal with requires. This is us. Nice to meet you.
